Lessons from A Cloud

Here are three lessons we can learn from a cloud.

1. Various

Clouds come in many shapes and sizes. From whisp like strokes to thick and robust, clouds can help us cool down during the summer and can warn us of an upcoming storm. They can be low, fog or they can be high in the atmosphere. They can appear to be a lion and then change to another image from a little movement. Clouds are a wondrous creation that demonstrates to us the variety God creates and loves. Just as clouds come in a variety of shapes and sizes, changing and being molded into different images depending on our view and imagination, people are similar. We all are unique in our own way, created and molded by God Almighty, and ever-changing into being more like Christ or more like the devil. From tall to short, athletic to chubby, humans are all created with a unique appearance and one-of-a-kind personality. As Christians, it is our responsibility to allow God to mold us into being more like Jesus Christ and to warn others of the current evil and upcoming "storm".

2. Invisible but visible

Clouds, though mostly visible to our eyes, are mostly water vapors combined to form either light clouds or thick storm clouds. The thicker and darker the cloud, the more intense the storm. Singular, a cloud's single water drop would not be visible to our eye, but together these vapors form a visible wonder. When flying and seeing the billows of clouds that look like comfy pillows put together or an ocean in the sky, you would think "how soft and bouncing it would be to stand on a cloud". However, looks can be deceiving, and those comfy pillows of clouds would not support our body but we would fall right through as our hand does when we try to hold steam. This is the reality of a sinners life, things may look so good ("the more money the greater the happiness and fewer problems in life" or "if I could be married to _______ my life would be heaven on earth.") however, no one's life is without issues, struggles, and problems. We all face many difficulties in this life, some more than others, but we all have them. The sinner may reject God for earthly idols, but in the end, the idol will disappear and what is left is the sinner's rejection of God, leaving them an eternity without God. What humans hold as important (success, power, materials, money, status....) are all vapors that may look like comfy pillows to jump on, but when we seek after them and go to take that jump, we fall through to the pits of the earth (or hell).

3. Disappearing

Clouds can disappear in an instance. We can look up and see a beautiful blue sky with light clouds and then the cloud can break away and eventually disappear. It reminds us how quick and fragile life is. In one moment we are living our prime, in the next we are becoming dust to put back into the ground. Though many times we are so caught up in the busyness and struggles of life, we forget we are so small compared to the universe. When looking up at the clouds or looking at clouds from an airplane, we are reminded of our small piece of the puzzle in this great vast world. We are shown the greatness of God and the mightiness of His hands. Don't let your life be disappearing, make it impactful and memorable by showing kindness to others, witnessing and sharing the Word of God which is eternal, and leaving a legacy for the next generation. Don't work your life away and regret not taking a moment to live and enjoy God's creation, meditate on His Word, spend quality time with Him daily, fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ, help those in need, and spend a few minutes each day looking up and remember the amazing love and awesome power of God Almighty.

whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. - James 4:14
