Lessons from A Rainbow

1. Promises

God created the rainbow as a symbol of His promise to mankind to never flood the entire Earth again. It is a covenant between Him and us. God always keeps His promise and anything He says is true.

And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth. It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” - Genesis 9:12-17

2. Beauty

A rainbow is beautiful. With its various colors glowing through the rain clouds, it is a radiant attraction that everyone admires. A rainbow's beaming beauty reminds us that even in the darkest moments there will be sunshine again, even when things look bleak and are clouded by despair, we have hope in Christ of the coming glory. This world and all the sorrows and evils with it will all disappear never to be remembered again for those who put their trust and faith in Jesus Christ. Keep your chin up and eyes focused above on the eternal joy and peace to come.

Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. - Revelation 4:2-3
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” - Revelation 21:1-5

3. Glorious

A rainbow is a glorious creation. It shines and radiates a glow. What God creates is beautiful and good. Just as we look in awe of seeing a colorful rainbow, we will be in complete awe of God's glory when we see Him in heaven. We will not remember the questions we have or the pains we faced on Earth, we will be struck with wonder and amazement of our Creator and Lord, filled with praise for Who He is and what He has done.

Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. - Ezekiel 1:28

Next time you see a rainbow remember God's promises, His beauty, and glory. May His radiate light shine in your heart, filling you with a joyful song of praise.
